HSC101 Australian Health Care Systems

This is a core unit in the Bachelor of Health Science. The aim of the unit is to provide students with the knowledge necessary to understand how the Australian healthcare system functions. This will include an introduction to healthcare provision to Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians, particularly rural and remote Australians. The role and function of State and Federal health services are reviewed and critiqued from an Indigenous and non-Indigenous perspective. Economic and legislative aspects of healthcare systems and delivery are explored.
