This unit covers evidence-based pharmacy and innovative professional practice. It aims to enhance understanding, knowledge and skills around the role of research in the development of pharmacy as a profession.
Through the preparation of a literature review covering research, study design, ethics and methods, candidates develop skills in critical literature appraisal and using evidence as a basis for practice. Students will prepare a literature review and design a research project.
Underpinning all this is the skill of accessing, sorting and appraising scientific literature to provide information in a way that is useful to inform clinical practice. The unit consolidates and builds on knowledge gained in earlier units about the role of the pharmacist in immunisation delivery as the newest clinical practice initiative in pharmacy practice. Students will complete an immunisation knowledge test.
