BIS234 Database Concepts

This unit examines the design and use of relational databases. Relational design principles, including enhanced entity-relationship modelling and normalisation, as well as SQL the standard query language for relational databases is covered. An overview of security, database administration issues, special purpose databases and database integration is provided.

This unit builds on the prior knowledge gained in BIS134 and leads on to BIS251 where the students will acquire overall concept of how database are used in Information Systems.

This unit is reliant on on-line materials. Students must have access to a reliable high-speed broadband connection.
