CAL211 Learning a Central Australian Language 2

Team-taught by a native speaker and a linguist, this unit will provide students who have completed CAL210 with the opportunity to further develop their aural and oral competence, and holistic understanding of grammar of a Central Australian language. They will revise material covered in unit CAL210, and expand their skills in reading and writing the target language, listening and reading for comprehension, conversational exchanges, producing sentences, and translating written passages from the target language into English and vice versa. They will continue to compile their own dictionaries, phrase-books and sets of grammatical notes. Where practical, they will undertake a field trip to a community of speakers of the target language or engage in a comparable language-immersion situation.
