CAS311 Indigenous Independent Study

This unit provides an opportunity for students to develop their studies into areas of specific interest or applicability. Students are appointed a supervisor to oversee an in-depth study or research project determined in consultation with staff from the School. The unit is therefore external with the student studying alone but with regular contact with the appointed supervisor. This unit can be taken as a 10 credit point unit over one semester, or as a repeatable unit totalling 20 credit points over 2 semesters. This unit is aimed towards introducing students to Independent Study as training towards the research process. For example, the Final Report of 8,000 words (10 credit points) or 15,000 words (20 credit points) must demonstrate examination and interpretation of the literature along a question aligned to Indigenous Cultures, Indigenous Knowledge Systems and/or Natural Resource Management within the North Australian or Indigenous context.
