The unit enables students understand and demonstrate a more comprehensive understanding of a sport and exercise using analytical and evaluative skills derived from coaching sciences. The focus of this unit is directed towards advanced applications in developing general and high performance strength, power, speed, endurance and agility by integrating exercise physiological, biomechanical, functional anatomical knowledge and principles, especially total organismic responses to these types of training and relevance to talent identification principles based on these constructs. In the wider context of the course the provision of more advanced knowledge in coaching science related to physical preparation of athletes. The unit integrates theory and practice to develop more holistic evidence based physical training programming for sports and exercise by integrating exercise physiological, biomechanical, functional anatomical knowledge and principles.
