DES261 Architectural Technology And Environment 2

This unit investigates the principles and strategies required for the environmental design of buildings including heat, thermal comfort and building performance; light and sound; and issues of sustainability.

Unit content examines materials that comprise the building envelope respond to its context and the strategies used to adapt the building envelope to moderate the internal environment including; design principles for temperate, hot arid and hot humid climates, thermal performance measures, sunshine and shading and ventilation; light and sound including natural and artificial light and acoustic quality; and sustainability including energy, materials and water use.
