ECM218 Teaching the Curriculum: Indigenous Knowledge Systems 1

Indigenous Knowledges are increasingly coming to the forefront of Australian Education Systems. In this unit you will develop an understanding of Indigenous ways of knowing, being and doing (Knowledge Systems) and how these ideologies can be intertwined within the Australian Education Framework. Students will learn about 21st Century Indigenous Pedagogies and how they may apply these within formal learning spaces. Students will explore the conceptual contexts and processes of knowledge acquisition and transmission. Students will deconstruct and critically evaluate the principles and practices of embedding Indigenous Knowledges into the curriculum to inform and build upon an existing pedagogical approach. This unit will support the development of holistic and professional skills to connect, engage and empower the new global learner.
