ECM231 Teaching the Curriculum: Music 1

This unit introduces students to foundational concepts and pedagogies in the field of music teaching for Years 7-10. The unit equips students with the foundational skills to program a Music curriculum that facilitates students in Years 7-10 being able to: develop the skills and understanding to engage in music as knowledgeable music-makers and audience members; arrange, compose, improvise and perform for various purposes; demonstrate knowledge and understandings of musical elements, materials, ideas, styles and technologies; sing and play instruments to realise their own and others' musical ideas and works; respond to music, demonstrating a command of the language and concepts of music and develop a rich knowledge of the contemporary and historical contexts of musical works and practices.
