This unit will build on students' prior educational studies (middle years emphasis) to develop the pedagogy and practice required to be an excellent teacher of technologies (information technology) in the senior years of schooling. Students will extend their understanding of pedagogy and teaching practice in relation to the Australian Curriculum and other relevant specialised curricula. Through a multidisciplinary approach to teaching and learning they will be provided with opportunity to evaluate and apply diverse curriculum perspectives and pedagogical practices relative to context and technological specialisation.
The unit will develop student's skills to think critically, creatively and constructively through application to investigation, critique, evaluation and design. With a focus on digital technologies, students will be provided with the opportunity to apply their learning in the design of a multidisciplinary unit of work and related learning sequence. Strong links between technologies and the Australian Curriculum cross-curricular priorities will be established and implemented throughout the unit.
