This postgraduate unit is designed to develop pre-service teachers' theoretical and practical understandings to evaluate and respond to the complexities of teaching Visual Arts in the senior secondary years. It focuses on extending, refining and challenging pre-service teachers' material and critical understanding of their own and others' visual arts practice and the cultural and historical contexts within which such practices arise and are received. Pre-service teachers will extend, evaluate and synthesise specialist knowledge of: the visual arts and its role in social change; Visual Arts Pedagogical Content Knowledge; inclusive teaching practices; effective management of Visual Arts learning environments; and planning, delivering and analysing Visual Arts teaching practices.
