Pre-service teachers are introduced to advanced concepts and pedagogies in the field of Music teaching for junior secondary contexts. Through this post-graduate unit, pre-service teachers will develop their in-depth knowledge to evaluate Australian and State/Territory curriculum documents for Music. They will design a sequence of lesson plans that strategically incorporate the curriculum strands of music theory, history, composition, appreciation, literature and performance. In addition, pedagogical strategies for supporting school students' achievement of learning outcomes appropriate for Years 7 to 10 will be critically reviewed in the context of diverse students' learning needs.
