Pre-service teachers are introduced to and will analyse and apply advanced philosophies, concepts and pedagogies in the field of music education for junior secondary contexts. Through this post-graduate unit, pre-service teachers will critically examine and develop their indepth knowledge to evaluate Australian and State/Territory curriculum documents. They will build and apply their knowledge that strategically incorporate the curriculum strands of music theory, history, composition, appreciation, literature and performance. In addition, pedagogical strategies for supporting school students' achievement of learning outcomes appropriate for Years 11 to 12 will be explored in diverse social and cultural settings.
