This unit aims to develop conceptual and analytical understanding of how to direct scarce resources is a way that most efficiently and effectively achieves managerial goals. The unit is concerned with discussing the information that is needed to make effective and efficient decisions within an organisation and the means of collecting and analysing such information and data to aid management decision making. Emphasis will be placed on identifying goals and constraints; industry and competitive analysis; Porter's five forces of competition between industries and organisations; changes in industry and organisational competitive capabilities; key success factors and how to build these as a manager; and key structures for effective financial management and decision making.
