In this unit students critically evaluate theories of teaching and learning for their capacity to promote and facilitate cultural awareness and engagement in work and life. The unit utilises `western' and non-western ways of knowing, doing and being to enhance contributions of marginalised and minority knowledges in education settings. These issues are explored in the context of the world economy, changes in the nature of work and learning and the influence of these changes on education and training work. Students will articulate the relevance of these theories and changes in settings as diverse as workplaces, schools, community centres and broader social movement organisations.
