ENG401 Honours Thesis

The Engineering Thesis consists of two parts, completed by taking ENG401 twice - initially as the first part of the thesis and then as the second part of the thesis. The two parts of the Engineering Thesis bring together the knowledge and skills acquired in all aspects of the engineering program in the form of an individual research thesis which is undertaken by the student under the guidance of an academic supervisor.

The main features of the Engineering Thesis are:
  • an individual research project which investigates an area of engineering relevant to the student's specialisation
  • application of technical, design, experimentation, analysis, management and communications learning from previous engineering units in the engineering course

The thesis can be carried out within a university, industry or government setting, but it must be completed under the guidance of an academic staff member. It can be commenced in either the first or the second semester.

All learning materials will be made available on line through Learnline. Therefore students must have reliable access to the internet, with high-speed broadband being highly recommended. Students studying in external mode must have access to a scanner to submit assessment items.
