This unit introduces students to key issues and knowledge of teaching and learning in early years and primary years of schooling. Students studying this unit will be exposed to a range of pedagogical principles and processes relevant to effective teaching in educational settings. This unit requires a professional experience, which provides students with the opportunity to experience planning and teaching in a professional capacity.
This unit has associated professional experience of 20 days that is spent in an educational setting, where students will be expected to undertake explicit activities, including personal reflection, introductory planning and teaching and documenting learning processes. All professional learning tasks are designed raise awareness around the requirements of the professional standards for graduating teachers.
The 20 days professional experience includes a two week block (Monday to Friday) with a minimum of 4 lessons planned and taught.
