IND160 Indigenous Employment Policy and Practice

This unit examines and critiques the history of Indigenous employment in Australia and the development of policies that shape contemporary Indigenous employment practices. Students will explore the various historical contexts of Indigenous employment with a view to understanding how and why current policy measures exist and what they aim to achieve. National, State, Territory and organisational policies will be critically examined to identify the extent to which they support Indigenous employment. Analysis and critique of specific Indigenous employment policies will develop student knowledge of policy frameworks, and the relationship between policy frameworks, policy implementation and the effective support of Indigenous employment practices.
