LWB313 Indigenous Peoples and Property Law

The unit aims to give both a theoretical and practical understanding to Indigenous Property Law issues in Australia and particularly in the Northern Territory. We will consider the history of Aboriginal land rights in Australia and we will have a major focus on native title, including exploring the difficulties that Australian courts have had in understanding native title. This unit is the only undergraduate law course dealing with Indigenous property issues in Australia.
