This unit consolidates practice and theory gained in previous units and extends students understanding of the legal, ethical and professional roles and responsibilities of the registered nurse in primary, secondary and tertiary settings in health care. Best practice is central to nursing and encompasses professional development, and valuing and using evidence and research. Therefore students will further consolidate their learning through exploration, synthesis and analysis of evidence based literature that underpins nursing decisions, judgments and outcomes in clinical practice. Students will also critically analyse challenges and opportunities that relate to their future role as a health professional through reflective practice, critical thinking and application of clinical reasoning.
