The use of sound to infer and attribute meaning can work both to subtle and profound affect. In this unit students learn how the sound elements of dialogue, music, effects, foley and atmos work individually and together in a unified soundscape for film and television. There is an emphasis on the craft of sound as a stylistic and narrative tool, building on students' knowledge and appreciation for sound as a powerful storytelling device. Skills gained here can be applied to a broad range of creative industries and contexts where audio is present.
