This unit aims to provide students with the opportunity to focus on a particular area of interest in the field of social work and to explore this in greater detail via a piece of research. The unit provides knowledge and skills to articulate the components of a research project and analyze ethical issues and ethical guidelines for conducting social work research. Further, it provides students the skills on how to choose an area of research interest identifying the theoretical and methodological frameworks that underpin research design in social work practice.
All research topics must meet the approval of the Course Coordinator of the BSW. Students are required to meet regularly (either in person or via telephone) with their assigned supervisor to discuss their progress.
