This is an enabling unit, only available to students enrolled in the Tertiary Enabling Program (TEP002 - Preparation for Tertiary Study).
This unit will enable you to build the knowledge, skills and ways of thinking needed for successful study in Law, the Humanities and Social Sciences. It will further develop the academic skills introduced in TEP022 (Academic Language and learning). In addition, it will enable you to appreciate the importance of perspective in understanding past and present events. You will be engaged in inquiry based explorations of history and asked to consider different views on events of local and global importance. You will also learn how to analyse media representations of people, places and events. This will extend your understanding of how texts create meanings and convey a particular point of view. Through these explorations, you will develop the critical thinking, reading and writing skills needed to undertake study at university.
