This unit covers the skills and knowledge required to take a strategic and leadership view of the implementation of continuous capacity building and improvement within tourism business operations including either physical infrastructure such as facilities planning, manufacturing, engineering and operating, or human resource management such as staffing, workplace improving, and corporate capacity building, or the social-economic-environmental concept. This unit also covers general operations management theories, advanced tools and practices required by those seeking to analyse and resolve complex business innovation and improvement issues. The unit explores the adaptive operations management approach to address the challenges and emerging opportunities for tourism businesses. This unit consists of three different modules addressing specifically managerial perspectives on operations management, facilities management essentials and staff management issues.
