SBI242 Pharmacology For Clinical Practice

Using the National Quality and Safety in Health Services Medication Standard students will develop their knowledge of pharmacology and quality medication management. Students will be introduced to the fundamental science concepts in pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics across broad classes of medication.

The focus of this unit is the registered nurse's role and other health care professionals' role and responsibility in medication management, including safe administration practices, medication errors, adverse effects and drug interactions. Students will explore the benefit of person-centred medication management whilst applying critically thinking to legal and ethical considerations for at risk population groups across the lifespan.
