This postgraduate unit provides pre-service teachers opportunities to research the knowledge relating to a variety of physical and performance activities in the key learning areas of Health and Physical Education in junior secondary. This unit design is based upon the structure and philosophy of the Australian Curriculum in Health and Physical Education: Personal, Social and Community Health, and Movement and Physical Activity. Pre-service teachers will explore and evaluate teaching and coaching strategies for a range of sports and physical activities. Pre-service teachers will also investigate contemporary youth issues such as the gender, drugs and sexual health, on community and the populations within it.
