Australia wide Orders
Domestic shipping is via Australia Post from Darwin. We use a mix of eparcel and prepaid Express Post and Parcel Post satchels.
- Postage charges are applied in accordance with Australia Post’s weight‑based pricing structure.
- All shipping fees are calculated using Australia Post rates, which are determined by parcel weight.

Postage Insurance
Australia Post automatically covers your item up to the value of $100.00.
Extra Cover provides you with cover for the specified value of your item (up to $5,000) if your item is lost or damaged while being carried by Australia Post.
You can add extra cover for $8.95 by adding POSTAGE INSURANCE to your shopping cart.
Lost or Late Items
The University does not accept responsibility for parcels damaged or lost in transit by Australia Post.
Most late parcels arrive within 5 business days of their expected delivery date. If your delivery is taking longer than expected, you can:
1. Check your tracking number with Australia Post
2. If your item is missing or damaged in transit from us, lodge a missing or late enquiry with Australia Post call AusPost Customer Care on 1300 768 470
If you purchase Parcel Insurance, the Bookshop will replace lost parcels if not delivered after 15 working days from date of despatch. Please contact us via email immediately.
Delivery Times
Charles Darwin University Bookshop is a university owned and operated book service located in Darwin, Northern Territory. We also sell other items that we source from local and international suppliers.
Standard Shipping – Parcel Post
Orders of in stock items, received by 1.30pm are shipped in 1-2 days, by Australia Post. Please note: Orders received after 1.30pm on Friday are shipped the following Monday.
- Orders within Darwin Metro area take up to 2 business days. Orders outside Darwin Metro in the NT take up to 5 business days.
- Orders shipped to interstate metro areas take up to 3-6 business days depending on lodgement and destination points.
- Orders shipped to interstate country areas – please check with your local post office.
Express Shipping – Express Post
Orders of in stock items, received by 1.30pm are shipped in 1-2 days, by Australia Post.
Please note: Orders received after 1.30pm on Friday are shipped the following Monday.
- Darwin is outside of the next day delivery service guarantee for Australia Post.
- Express bags to capital cities from Darwin can take up to seven working days, point to point.
- Express Post general rule of next business day delivery only covers the major metro areas of each state. Australia Post uses the fastest possible transport links around Australia.
Out of stock items - Pre-orders and Backorders
If the complete order is not in stock, we will do our best to fulfil and send within 10 business days the back ordered items. We do not guarantee pre-order or backorder timeframes due to publisher and transport delays.
We may choose to split your order, if it is over 5kg combined or some items are out of stock. If your order is sent out in multiple shipments, you will receive multiple tracking numbers, unless it is a bundle or pack. We do not charge for multiple shipments.
Orders of bundles or packs where parts are out of stock, the in stock items are shipped in 1-2 days except after 1.30pm on Fridays. Out of stock items are shipped within 1-2 days of arriving back in stock, per the postage option chosen.
Tracking
It may take some time before your tracking number and link is active with Australia Post, as it needs to be scanned at one of their facilities.
CDU Bookshop is not responsible for incorrect email address resulting in tracking advice not being received.
Partial Deliveries
Where items are out of stock, one tracking advice is first emailed and a backorder advice sticker provided with the first shipment. Further shipment tracking numbers are emailed using the email address provided once the items are despatched.
CDU Bookshop only despatches parcels on business days.

Freight Rates - International
International freight can be sent via Australia Post international courier. Please advise preferred service when ordering. All prices are in Australian dollars.
