EPE502 - Early Childhood Professional Experience 2


Preservice teachers will complete a 30 day placement in Preschool and Transition years. Preservice teachers will develop their professional identity, confidence and competence by engaging with research literature; policies; Early Years Learning Framework and the Australian Curriculum. Preservice teachers will design learning with a focus on relationships, interactions, and guiding behaviour for positive experiences that engage young learners reflective of an emergent curriculum including language and literacy development, numeracy, science, and ICT. They will demonstrate appropriate teaching methods and strategies; play-based pedagogy; assessment for learning and evidence of learning. Preservice teachers will engage in deep theoretical and critical investigations of ethical practice and advocacy in context, such as inclusion of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives; safe and supportive approaches to identity; belonging and socially inclusive practice principles enacting the rights and agency of all children. Specific assessable activities are undertaken during this placement. All assessment tasks must be satisfactorily completed to pass this unit.
