SBI111 - Perspectives in Paramedicine Practice

This unit will introduce students to the foundation of studies in paramedicine and the evolving role and function of a paramedic whilst at the same time preparing them for further study and work integrated learning. Students will develop primary clinical skills in a pre-hospital environment and recognize ambulance equipment. A virtual reality learning environment will be utilised to introduce students to varying workplace scenarios. In addition, students will learn to apply principles and practices of self care, mental and physical preparedness for work in challenging and critical situations. Communication skills will be developed with a focus on applying the principles of effective communication and clinical reasoning in a professional practice in paramedicine.
