SLT505 - Acquired Language Disorders
In this unit students will learn about acquired neurogenic language and cognitive-communication disorders associated with stroke, traumatic brain injury and degenerative or progressive neurological conditions such as dementia. Students will establish competency in the assessment, analysis and interpretation of client data, as well as the planning and implementation of evidence-based, client-centred speech pathology practice for clients with acquired language disorders. Students will critically reflect on the impact of acquired language disorders on a client's activity, participation and quality of life.
