The unit provides in depth knowledge of control system analysis and design concepts: transient response, steady - state error analysis, stability analysis, frequency domain analysis; control systems design by the root -locus method and the frequency response method; Proportional, Integral and Derivative (PID) control; state-variable modelling of systems; design of state variable feedback systems. Students will have the opportunity to critically evaluate different design methods and apply integrated knowledge to practical situations.
