This core unit provides students with fundamental knowledge of epidemiology. Key concepts explored include; definition of epidemiology, measures of disease occurrence and frequency, basic biostatistics, causation of disease, prevention, and incidence of epidemics and endemic disease transmission. Students will also explore the relationship between epidemiology and the environment, and how epidemiology informs health service and health policy development. This unit provides basic knowledge to apply to NUR248 Research & Evidence Based Health.
