This core unit in the Bachelor of Health Science provides students with knowledge and understanding to support successful health service delivery for Indigenous Australians. Key concepts are presented and explored that underpin the historical, social and political impact on the health of Indigenous Australians. The significance of Indigenous knowledges and practices on the health and wellbeing of Indigenous people is also presented alongside Western knowledges and practices that inform healthcare in Australia and beyond. In this unit students are presented with the opportunity to enhance their self reflection knowledge and skills, particularly related to working with identity and difference, and diversity.
