IAS282 Music Making and Theory 4
This intermediate level music theory unit consolidates and extends students' knowledge and skills applying music theory techniques including writing harmonic and melodic minor, blues, pentatonic and whole tone scale patterns, writing cadences and chords in 4-part vocal style. Other topics covered in the unit include compound intervals, tonalities of triads, melody and modulation, verse setting, longer harmony including sequences, suspensions and unessential notes. Students continue to build on knowledge, skills and musical ability focusing on the stylistic characteristics of repertoire as well as performance planning and practice. Students continue to extend and refine technical and interpretive skills to broaden their musical repertoire to a high intermediate level.
