Concepts of health and wellbeing vary considerably between cultures because of the ways in which different approaches to knowledge-making shapes our understandings of being, knowing and doing. In this unit students explore and analyse concepts of wellbeing from the perspective of Indigenous Australians. Students develop a critical awareness and understanding of the diverse social determinants that can have an impact upon perceptions of wellbeing. Additionally, students explore how perceptions of wellbeing impact on Indigenous people's potential to access and engage with systems of health in contemporary Australian society.
