This unit is designed to bring the level of students skill in Indonesian language to a level that should ensure their ability to communicate actively and competently with native speakers of Indonesian, and to have sufficient vocabulary to begin to read widely from a variety of forms of written Indonesian, ranging from the literary to the technical. Classroom time will be devoted largely to presentation and discussion of materials in Indonesian language, with students taking an active role in presenting and interpreting these materials. Finer points of grammar and discourse will be clarified with reference to materials presented by students and the instructor(s) in class.
