LWA329 Conveyancing Law

This unit is a study of the principles of, and general practices followed in, the sale and purchase of property in a selected Australian jurisdiction which will be the jurisdiction of the prescribed text (which may change from time to time). The emphasis will be on those principles and procedures that are relevant to the sale and purchase of real property but attention will also be given to identifying their significance in relation to conveyances of personal property.

The focus will be on those principles and procedures, drawn from the text and case law, that are generally common to all Australian jurisdictions but there will also be a specific examination of relevant Northern Territory legislation and the recommended standard form of contract commonly used in NT transactions. Whist in the mainstream world the use of standard form of contract resource is generally limited to residential land sales and purchases students will use it also for general guidance.
