AUD505 Paediatric Audiology I
This unit introduces students to audiological clinical assessment techniques that are used in children under 5 years of age within a framework of family centered, culturally responsive care. Students will learn about the typical trajectory of speech and language in children and the impact of childhood hearing loss. Students will learn how to carry out behavioral assessment techniques, such as Visual Reinforcement Audiometry (VRA) and play audiometry. Students will acquire the clinical decision-making skills needed to select and administer appropriate assessment tests in children, interpret findings, and make appropriate management and referral decisions.
Students are expected to attend a 5 day face-to-face intensive as part of their learning in this unit.
