AUD511 - Objective Methods of Audio-Vestibular Assessment

This unit is a continuation to Behavioral Methods of Hearing Assessment. Students will gain an understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the central auditory system and the vestibular (balance) system. It will further provide students with an understanding of common central and vestibular pathologies resulting from disease or injury, and the impact of these pathologies on daily life. Students will then learn to select the appropriate clinical assessment technique for the central and vestibular systems, which include otoacoustic emissions, auditory evoked potentials, and vestibular testing. Building on this theoretical knowledge, students will be taught to interpret the results of these assessment techniques to make an informed management plan for clients and their family.

Students are required to attend a 5 day face-to-face intensive as part of their learning for this unit.
