CIW100 Foundations of Creative Writing

In this introductory unit the students will engage with a range of texts by Indigenous writers, and will be challenged to reflect on what 'Indigenous writing' can be. Students will be introduced to the 'writers toolbox' and they will be able to begin to develop their writing skills and styles by analysing the basic craft, layout and elements of writing across a range of genres, including theme, character, dialogue, plot, structure, voice, style, symbolism and metaphor. It will prepare students for their continued study in the Diploma of Creative and Indigenous Writing.
