ECM211 Teaching the Curriculum: Health and Physical Education 1

This unit introduced students to knowledge relating to a variety of physical and performance activities that relate to the key learning area of Health and Physical Education. This unit is designed around the structure and philosophy of the Australian Curriculum in Health and Physical Education, which has two content strands (Personal, social and community health and Movement and physical activity).
Students will explore appropriate teaching and coaching strategies for a range of sports and physical activities. Students will also have the opportunity to develop an understanding of health issues that impact on communities and the populations within it. The unit also includes a focus on youth such as the gender, drugs and sexual health. The focus of the knowledge and skills in this unit is junior secondary (Years 7-10).
