ECM214 Teaching the Curriculum: Junior Secondary Geography

Pre-service teachers will develop their understanding of pedagogy and teaching practice in relation to current research and the Australian Curriculum: Geography. Through engagement and participation in unit content and activities, pre-service teachers will be equipped to design and develop geography learning and teaching experiences for school students in the junior secondary years. Pre-service teachers will develop their understanding of geographic inquiry pedagogies and abilities to think critically and creatively about the world from a geographic perspective. Pre-service teachers will be supported to evaluate, critically analyse, synthesise and openly discuss geographic perspectives and pedagogical practices to ensure engagement and critique with geography in relation to global and human issues.
