ECM351 - Secondary Languages Other Than English 1

Languages Other Than English (LOTE) across the junior curriculum Year 7 to Year 10 engages preservice teachers to review contemporary issues and relevant literature, to apply pedagogical approaches, strategies and practices to expose students to learning a foreign language and appreciate various cultures. The LOTE unit introduces preservice teachers to second language acquisition theory and practices for effective LOTE delivery across various context and to diverse learners. This unit further develops knowledge of receptive and productive modes, LOTE language production, and learning environments that support students to become globally aware citizens confident in multilingual and multicultural contexts. This unit enables participants to understand LOTE policies, curriculum, ICT integration and applied pedagogies in conjunction with developing LOTE learning sequences and delivering effective content.
