ECM362 - Secondary Mathematics 2
This unit focuses on developing critical pedagogical content knowledge and skills related to the complexities of teaching senior secondary mathematics as defined by Australian Curriculum. From a pedagogical standpoint, preservice teachers will examine and reflect on key ideas, content, and concepts from the Australian Curriculum - Senior Secondary Mathematics, such as functions, calculus, matrices, networks, probability and statistics. Through contextually engaging and student-centered learning sequences, they will study the relationship between content and pedagogy, questioning, and feedback, and construct student-centered and inquiry-based approaches to the teaching of senior mathematics.
Preservice teachers will also explore strategies for expanding their pedagogical content knowledge and engaging students in the learning of mathematics using graphics calculators and technology.
