ECM561 - Teaching the Curriculum: Junior Secondary Maths
In this postgraduate unit, pre-service teachers will focus on developing in depth and critical pedagogical content knowledge and skills related to the complexities of mathematics teaching in junior secondary. Pre-service teachers will also review contemporary educational theories related to mathematics with rationale, content and philosophy of the Australian Curriculum in Maths in the content areas of Number and Algebra, Measurement and Geometry, and Statistics and Probability. They will also critically evaluate student-centred and inquiry-based approaches to maths learning through the design of contextually engaging learning sequences, including risk assessment, experimental investigations, practical activities, formative and summative assessment, and the use of technologies.
