ELA522 - Primary Specialisation: Languages Other Than English

This postgraduate unit prepares pre-service teachers to teach Languages Other Than English (LOTE) subjects in Years F-6, and to engage critically and constructively with the language teaching profession. Pre-service teachers will develop an advanced understanding of relevant LOTE pedagogies and teaching practices in relation to mainstream school settings within the Australian context. The unit requires pre-service teachers to think critically, creatively, and interculturally in undertaking a range of professional activities including needs analysis, syllabus design, and evaluating learning materials and technologies. Pre-service teachers will have the opportunity to apply their learning through the development of a multi-themed learning sequence.
