ENG341 Separation Process Principles
This unit is the first part of two which explore the separation process (the second one is ENG441 Separation Processes). The separation process is a major part of any ore or fluid refining method, and so is an important part of the learning for any chemical engineer.
This unit introduces the principles of separation processes, covering topics such as:
- Mass transfer and heat diffusion
- Single equilibrium stage and flash distillation
- Absorption and stripping of dilute mixtures
- Distillation of binary and ternary mixtures
- Liquid-liquid extraction with ternary systems
Students studying this unit in external mode are required to attend residential activity at the Casuarina Campus during the mid-semester study period. More information about residentials can be found at http://www.cdu.edu.au/engit/residentials.
This unit is reliant on on-line materials including electronic submission of assessment items. Students must have access to a reliable high-speed broadband connection and a scanner.
