The unit provides an understanding of energy transmission with a particular emphasis on power systems. It covers electromechanical energy conversion, single and three phase alternating current circuits, transformers, direct current machines, synchronous machines, and induction machines. The unit also discusses electric and magnetic circuits, and use of per-unit quantities.
This unit is reliant on on-line materials. Students must have reliable access to the internet. Access to high-speed broadband is highly recommended. Students studying in external mode must have access to a scanner to submit assessment items.
Students studying in external mode must attend residential activity at the Casuarina Campus during the mid-semester break. More information about residentials can be found at http://www.cdu.edu.au/engit/residentials.
