ENG582 - Engines and Turbomachinery
The unit provides an understanding of aspects related to engines and turbomachinery. This includes an introduction to internal combustion engines and turbo machinery; operating characteristics and engine cycles; thermochemistry and fuels, air and fuel induction, fluid motion within combustion chambers, combustion, exhaust flow, emissions and air pollution, heat transfer in engines, friction and lubrication. Students will develop skills to evaluate different aspects of engines and turbomachinery, including their energy demand and environmental impact.
