ETL102 - Introduction to Teaching and Learning

Preservice teachers are introduced to the fundamental concepts and skills of teaching. The unit outlines and connects the Australian Professional Standards' teaching standards with practice, policy documents, and curriculum documents that will assist preservice teachers throughout their degree. In the unit, there will be opportunities to connect and interact with academics, peers, and other education specialists. The unit will introduce preservice teachers to the concept of teacher resilience and discuss strategies and concepts that will aid in the development of teacher resilience. The unit will also introduce preservice teachers to the requirements of the Quality Teaching Performance Assessment, which will be undertaken and implemented during the final placement. The unit provides explicit academic preparation that supports and helps preservice teachers transition to the profession.
